Ben Winans was born in 1987 in Raleigh, North Carolina.  His childhood was enriched by drawing, music, and moving around the Southern U.S. with his parents and two sisters.  In 1998, he moved with his family to Mauritius, in Southern Africa.  He spent the next 8 years traveling internationally, holding addresses in Mauritius and Japan, and being influenced and transformed by the many people and cultures he encountered until his high school graduation in 2006. 

Winans has exhibited in his solo exhibition, "What If You Lived Anywhere Else?" at Gallery: EDIT, Richmond, VA.  He has also been included in various group exhibitions including "Audacity" at Gallery: EDIT, Richmond, VA, "Company", also at EDIT, and the untitled opening of Roshini Gallery, in Lucknow, India.

Winans currently lives with his wife in Richmond, VA, where he in finishing his B.F.A. in painting and printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University.
