Benjamin Winans (b. 1987, Raleigh, NC) is an installation artist, printmaker, and scholar whose work addresses the intersection of evangelical Christianity and American culture, loss of faith, and the search for grace and redemption. He graduated in 2021 with an MFA in visual art from the Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan where he received the Jean Paul Slusser Award. Winans was an inaugural Southern Studies Fellow in Arts and Letters in Spartanburg, SC in collaboration with writer Morgan Thomas on a project exploring the legacies of Christianity, ecological toxicity, and masculinity in the American South. He was selected by Southwest Contemporary magazine as one of the 2023 "New Mexico Artists to Know", and has an upcoming exhibition at the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum in Roanoke, VA. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally. Winans currently lives and works in Albuquerque, NM.
